At the end of last year, I was on fire. I didn’t slow down in December, didn’t treat it like a “down month,” and had one of my biggest months ever. So when January arrived, I fully expected to hit the ground running.
Instead… I crashed.
I felt tired. Unmotivated. Flat. And if I’m honest, a little panicked. You know that moment when your energy dips and your mind goes straight to catastrophic thinking? Is this how it’s going to be now? Is this my new normal? (Spoiler: it’s not.)
That’s when I learned about wintering — the idea of working with the natural seasons instead of fighting them. In winter, the earth rests. Trees let go. Crops are rotated. Everything slows down. And yet, somewhere along the way, we decided humans should ignore that and push harder.
Here’s what I realized: nothing powerful is created by force. When I stopped pushing and allowed myself to rest, something surprising happened — I became more effective. More focused. More creative. When I work, I work faster. Cleaner. With more ease.
Rest isn’t laziness. It’s strategy.
I think of it like bamboo. For a long time, nothing seems to be happening… and then suddenly, it’s everywhere. That’s because bamboo grows underground before it ever shows above the surface. Just because you can’t see growth doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.
The same is true for your ideas, your business, your next level.
So if you’re feeling tired, uninspired, or frustrated right now, let me gently remind you: this may not be a setback — it may be winter.
Honor it. Rest. Trust it.
Because when spring comes…
you won’t have to push.
You’ll rise. 🌱
